The Story of Consolidated Panels & Veneers

Consolidated Veneers
the Early Years

Consolidated Veneers is a proudly Australian owned and operated Company that has been servicing the Australian Decorative Panel, Cabinet Joinery and Shopfitting Industries since 1963.

Commencing in 1963, the Gibson family created Consolidated Joinery as a specialist timber & joinery supplier for their shopfitting business. Between 1963 and 1989, the business name changed from Consolidated Joinery to Consolidated Veneers to accurately reflect the change in business activities to more specialised veneer based products.

In 1989 the Gibson family sold their interest in Consolidated Veneers to the Salamon family who continued to develop and expand the business within the Decorative Panel, Cabinet, Joinery and Shopfitting industries specialising in predominately Edgebanding products.

Consolidated Veneers continued to service the industry with Edgebanding products throughout the 1990’s and into the next decade. A key to Consolidated Veneers success was a strong customer focus, based on reliability & service something of which continues today as a core business philosophy.

In 2007, Consolidated Veneers was sold by the Salamon family to private investors with extensive industry knowledge who continue to develop the business today.

The evolution to Consolidated Panels & Veneers

In 2009, Consolidated Veneers began importing decorative Low Pressure Melamine Panels and Laminates into Australia from Italy. A national distribution network was established for the distribution of this product range and still continues to operate to this day. This development was pivotal to the future development into Panels by Consolidated Veneers.

In 2014 after the liquidation of one of the company’s largest customers, Consolidated Veneers had the opportunity to purchase part of this company’s Veneer Board Panel laying machinery. This acquisition allowed Consolidated Veneers to develop its business to include Veneer Board processing which was a positive strategic fit with its Edging business. In June 2014, Consolidated Panels was established and quickly grew to become the flagship of the Consolidated Group of companies.

In 2017 after a shareholder’s buyout, Consolidated Panels & Veneers was established. Today our company’s 3 divisions consisting of Edging, Panels & Bella Décor continues to service the same and new industries it has since 1963.

The Company today

In January 2018 due to the growth of the business, Consolidated Panels & Veneers moved into a New purpose built facility at Horsley Park in Sydney’s Western Suburbs.

The rapid growth over the past 6 years had necessitated the company’s 2nd move to larger premises over this period of time. Our New facility at Horsley Park has allowed the expansion and installation of a New state of the art Panel Laying Press Line and provides much larger warehousing and storage area for future expansion.

Over the past 5 years, Consolidated Panels & Veneers has become one of the Premier Panel Laying specialist company’s in Sydney and has established and developed a Sales market in Queensland which is also becoming a Key state in the company’s business growth.

The company still provides the same High level of customer service with the same philosophies it did back in the 1990’s. Today Consolidated Panels & Veneers offers an extensive range of panels products including Veneer Panels, Plywood, Substrates, Decorative Manufactured & Specialty Panels along with our Edging, Adhesives and Contracting Services.

CPV was the Panel Layer that produced Hundreds of Hoop Pine & Spotted Gum Veneer board panels that were used as Acoustic and Wall Panels for the Sydney International Convention Center.
